Bhori 42 years old lives with her husband and children in Kotri. Bhori says, “I’m a TB and Asthma patient and my husband work as a daily wager. It was very difficult to manage the household and suddenly COVID struck our area and my husband lost his work”. She added, “I remember we had no food ration and I finished my medicine when SSEWA-Pak visited our area and selected me for cash assistance”. Bhori concluded, “It was a very difficult time and I can’t forget how timely our prayers were heard”.
Farzana d/o Abdul Ghani lives in village Sawan Khaskeli in Mirpurkhas. SSEWA-Pak formed a women self-help group in her village. She says, “I joined our SHG group and started saving in 2020 and in 2021 I received a loan of 2000 PKR from our SHG. I bought two hens and a roaster to start a small poultry setup”. She added, ‘Now I sell eggs in my village and also have 11 chicks. From the income I manage my own personal expenses and expanding my backyard poultry and buying more hens’. My name is Dawood Brohi, I live in village Imam Bux Brohi in Mirpurkhas. Dawood says, “I had a chicken shop before COVID- 19 and I had to close my business during lockdowns and lost my cash flow”. He added, “I’m thankful to SSEWA-Pak for a cash grant as I have re-started my business and earning around 15-16000 in a month”.
Sahil lives in Rattanabad and works at a motor bike repair shop as a technician. Sahil says, “During COVID-19 our shop owner closed his shop and I was jobless and in dire need of some work”. Sahil added, “The same month SSEWA-Pak team visited our village and selected me for a business scale up training and a bike repair kit with all tools”. He continued with a smile, “Now I am running my own shop and earning 10’000 to 12000 every month”
